 But seriously, when that channel of $$$ comes through, over the period i pay off all my bills with a smile, buy stuff for my little sisters, run some errands that were long pending, even take out a few friends on some nights

Some of the older members will tell you More money = more problems.....Specially if your Somali or from collectivist cultures.
Why do you think rich Somalis drift away from their Qabil, its probably near 100% in the diaspora.

I think it depends on how much you're making. When you're living comfortably, i.e., making enough to pay off all your bills with savings and some spending money left over, you're set. More money creates problems when you're rich because you have the option of spending money recklessly. You start tricking galdem, lending money to the homies, and just blowing money fast cause you got it like that. Later on when you want to get into a serious relationship, you realize all these dimes you're pulling are only around because you're funding their lifestyle. Your friends act like they don't know you like that when you ask for money back. You got a house full of flat screens that you don't watch, leather couches that you don't sit on and a closet full of Jordans you hardly wear. You let your money do most of the talking and now you realize you ain't shid w/o it.

Too much money is not good but also faqri isn't good. Moderation in everything is good. You can't have a normal life if you are too rich and that is not fun. Going to the toilet with a bodyguard can be annoying.

Wealthy parents and children end up becoming overprotecting/overprotected parents/children. As someone mentioned, moderation is the key.

I'll tell you why abwaan Biggie was right when he said more money more problems: I am not even rich but every time I come to Kenya I get mobbed by everybody. Friends want money, strangers want money, the watchman at the hotel wants money, the guy working in the restaurant want money, the crooked cops want money, the airport authorities want money and the whole country want money because they think you have it. I, now, sympathise with rich people and almost feel sorry for them because the reality is I am not even famous. When you are rich you are well known and the entire clan and nation are focusing on you.

Zulaika - No, but people in Africa think you have lots of money if you are from the West and dress like a champion like I sometimes do.
