Somalia: President and PM Political Standoff Turns Tribal

The political dispute between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon has taken a new shape today.

The prime minister is reported to have invited members of parliament from his Darood tribe and urged them to take their stand to support his political position and that of their tribe.

More than 48 MP's from Daarod tribe took part in a meeting that was organized by the prime minister in his office today.

"I am here with you today to defend "PM position" which I am holding on your behalf." the PM told the MPs from Darod tribe.

Dalsan Radio has learnt that the MPs have agreed the PM not to resign unless a motion of no confidence is passed against his favor by the next week parliament assembly .

A member of parliament who declined to reveal his name has told Radio Dalsan that the main agenda of the meeting was how to protect PM from president pressure to resign.

Another insider source has confirmed to the Radio Dalsan that the president of semi autonomous region of Puntland Abdirahman Faroole has participated in the meeting through telephone line as did Jubaland's Ahmed Madobe.

What would 48 MPs do against 122 Members of the Heavy weight Irir Clan Plus about some digil iyo mirifle and others who caucus with them. As far as I know, all the 8 Ogaden plus 14 Majeerteen MPs have signed the Motion to dispose Saacid with all the HG, Mareexaan, and Murusade Mpls Voting against the resignation.

Its high time to get this sxb. No one gets anything in the Somali Parliament with Qabil. Even Irir tribe with 122 Mps cannot stand alone let alone a minority Clan.

The propaganda of this radio is to hurt more the pm

Yes the pm depands more on his clan(ali khalif, cashara...) unlike of the president who totally depands on an organization work full of minorities, financiers, regional rivals than his clan.

Maybe saacids last card is to help with a rumors about the pm post that it may go to another clan.

But his problem is that he didn't help his clan in the past like his position from the kismayo conference so...
