Makes sense. Although i'd have to ask what you mean by "shisheeye", do you mean other clans or just foreigners?

Somalis only get competitive when they become jealous. They are too lazy to become motivated

Especially the women. And the women compete in such an unhealthy and fcked up way

For instance, I know a perfect example. I know countless of my mothers friends who own suburban homes they couldn't afford after seeing one or two well off Somalis in their neighborhood purchase homes. 20+ years of renting and they were all happy with that until a friend of theirs decides to go on a mortgage with a 4 bedroom, 2500 sq ft home out in the suburbs

The ones that can't afford it make 4 or 5 of their kids pay the mortgage which is fine but they only went into purchasing a home due to jealousy which is the fcked up thing. This is the kinds of things Somalis compete on.

As for a cooperative culture, only for their clan. Try getting Clan X to support Clan Y's business or even attend their mosque

^^^^You seem to have a lot of anecdotes about the worst of Somalis. Are you really that self-hating?

FYI nobody get's a mortgage if they can afford to buy a house, otherwise that defeats the purpose of getting a mortgage. Also being competitive doesn't mean you're jealous, it means you're competitive - hence "keeping up with the Jones' ".

Somalis only do things most of the time when they get jealous. They are competitive when they feel they are left out. Not because of personal ambition. We are too lazy for that

When you have 4 or 5 kids working, you can suddenly afford it.

Keeping up with the Jones is a horrible trait and different from being competitive. One should live within their means instead of fronting for show.

Abdijohnson is right about clans supporting their mosques only. I have seen it first hand and even attended one meeting. They opened one mosque between all somali. Then this one particualy sub clan of a major clan became extremely in uncooperative. They began demanding that one of their "shiekhs" had lead 2 of the 5 prayers. Also their "shiekh" had to run the dhugsy. Then every other qabil began demanding seats in the committee, so the committee decided to have a meeting. The WHOLE town came wallahi (not women) . Even the marfish guys came down. The committee said they acknowledge the call for the committee to increase their seats. However increasing the committee chairs to 22 is too much specially for a small mosque lol. Then prayer room erupted with buug, everyone is speaking over each other. Eventually after more discussions behind closed doors these men of the same clan gave up their "rights" and demands. The mosque has run smoothly ever after
