I get what your saying and it wasn't him who made somalia like this, however he has all the documents even if you claim the house belonging to you!!original dervish wrote:Sahal exhibits the root cause of Somalia`s lamentable position......misplaced arrogance.
How he can describe Hassan Sheikh as a "real president", is astounding & symptomatic of Somalia`s malaise.
Sahal....don`t fool yourself by the trappings of power & authority...Hassan has neither.
Yes...he is the recognised president of Somalia...but only on paper.
Foreign forces invade & occupy at will.
Land, air & sea are in the hands of foreign navies.
Can Hassan demand that the Ethiopia/Kenyans leave Somalia?
Khalid Ali wrote:Hassan is the UN recognized Somali leader of Somalia , but he has no physical control over the Sovereign territory he claims that is the former Somali republic. Hassan though has allot of advantage he has legitimacy partly given by the international community and the rest given by his direct kin and his constituency and their allies in the south and The Somali constitution although this seems to be in dispute by the warring factions of Somalia. But he has no real defense apparatus to enforce his laws he is working towards to put from galkacyo to the Kenyan border under one single entity, But there are many shortcomings such as the Jubba fiasco which is now behind us the Alshabaab factor who cause allot of havoc in the region, Tribal tensions in many parts. Hassan has allot of cards so far. As for Ethiopia there are Ethiopian troops inside Somalia as we speak defending the Somali state from Alshabaab, so their influence is also there. But as i said he has an advantage because the International community recognizes his government as the legitimate Government for Somalia he can remove some of the Ethiopian baggage control from Somalia, because of his legitimacy, Ethiopia is now forced to wear an Amisom uniform no longer are they freelancers. Ethiopia has no interest to pick sides between the warring Somali factions/nations entities it supports them equally except Alshabaab and ONLF. Their diplomacy is one of balancing their relations between Somaliland, Puntland and the SFG of the south and the Jubba admin.
Ethiopia says that it supports Somaliland it even recognizes Somaliland passports it has a consulate in hargeisa it allows a Somaliland diplomatic office in addis ababa. It shows nothing but a friendly gesture towards Somaliland it allows Somalilanders to use addis ababa to make contacts with various western embassies. It even advised Rayaale how to address the African union states in 2007 about SL quest for statehood. Ethiopia knows Somalilanders would rather feed their balls to the wolfs than to bow down to Somalia. Ethiopia does everything but to recognize Somaliand statehood officially if she does that it would lose allot of privileges they receive from Somaliland. In terms of security and negotiations about trade it gives Ethiopia leverage, if SL is recognized Somaliland would not need Ethiopian embassies, Somaliland would negotiate from a stronger position regarding trade in the region.
Puntland and Ethiopia relations are warm to, Ethiopia has a consulate in Garowe The Puntlanders supported the Ethiopians in their war against the islamic courts union the Puntlanders use Ethiopia ethnic federalism model for Somalia Ethiopia supports this a clanish federated Somalia along clan lines. Ethiopia put their support behind Colonel Cabdilahi Yusuf Ethiopia even proposed to deploy troops to galkacyo when the ICU was nearing. The TPLF helped Puntland with the contacts with Foreign mercenary Firms, And Puntland buys arms from Ethiopia.
The South and Mogadishu the SFG ethiopia has warm relations with the SFG the Ethiopian troops protect the Somali government from Alshabaab Ethiopia has an embassy in Mogadishu , Ethiopia recognizes a unified Somali state with the SFG as its head but it also supported the federal Somali constitution of Somalia. The relations with Mogadishu and Ethiopia was not to good because of the 2007 war but it has all been restored because Ethiopia has shown it can defeat Alshabaab. The SFG and the TPLF have issued a joint statement that they would build a joint commission of ministers. And the Somali governments wishes to boost trade relations with Ethiopia.
Jubbaland and Ethiopia , Ethiopia was at first skeptical about the Whole Jubbland because it feared the ONLF rebels would find a safe heaven there, but Ethiopia played a role and broke a deal between the SFG and the raskambooni militia, since its very neutral on all Somali conflicts , Minister Tedros andhom the Ethiopian Foreign minister broke a deal and Ethiopia was the guarantor. Ahmed madoobe paid a visit to addis ababa and ensured the Ethiopian regime that he supports the unity of Ethiopia and Ethiopia than invited also the Somali government to come to addis ababa and broke the deal.
