I know plenty of them and I always tell them the same thing, the state of their Somali linguistic skills is a result of pure negligence on their part.

Some of them don't even understand it at times....how on Earth does that happen when you're born and raised in Nairobi?

If I could speak and understand Somali relatively well, the fella born and raised in Kenya better have a Shakespearic command of the tongue :Puhlease:

What's worse people who were born and raised in Somalia claiming to be 'bad' at Somali!

Reer Kenya are the strangest people ever. The country of extremes when it comes to Somalis

1) Born and bred in Kenya, speaks like a Bed-Stuy resident
2) Born and bred in Kenya, can't speak Swahili
3) Born and bred in Kenya, speaks English with a Kikuyu accent
4) Born and bred in Kenya, proud Kenyan
5) Born and bred in Kenya, hates Kenya
6) Born and bred in Kenya, fully integrated
7) Born and bred in Kenya, acts like he's in Muqdisho
8) Born and bred in Kenya, acts like a Kikuyu/Luo
9) Born and bred in Kenya, poorer than a Somali in Somalia
10)Born and bred in Kenya, in the Forbes 500

I am,

Its the parent I've seen kids born here with perfect Somali. How old was the guy when he moved? What if Somali is not their first language at home? Cuz I met someone who spoke Swahili but not Somali.

It is personal preference i think.I have seen people who came here 5/7 years ago who cant utter a complete sentence in Somali. And they are not kids.

fah, as I've once mentioned, people in Western countries mature late due to lack of sufficient social, psychological, community, dramatical or real-life experiences. You're 24, yet still consider yourself a kid.

What does living in Kenya have to do with it? Comes down to the family and the environment. A kid living in North London is probably around more somalis than another kid in certain parts of Nairobi iskaba daay outside the capital.

Until I can rent a car without a youthful driver surcharge, I'm still a kid. So... Another year.
