Adeer,
What is the minium age required for a wali of the bride ? What is he is 16 ? Does he qualify ? There are no other male relatives in the area except for her younger brother. In addition no paternal uncle lives in the area.
Secondly, if the father is not around, can her younger brother stand in for him ?
Jazak Allah,
Abdiwahab.

PO,
It was a question for the religious scholar, Hyperactive. If he has questions of this duniya, I will be more than happy to help him out.
The topic centers on technicalities.

isn't it 16??
in regards to younger brother...I think the person that should stand as wali is someone responsible.
but I don't know if this is true but if a women reaches a certain age eg..60 plus and gets married would she require wali???

Cherine,
Nothing wrong with asking questions. So basically, can the groom skip dealing with the father who is far far away and instead deal with his bride to be's younger brother ?

Great contribution Hodan ! Responsibility is hard to gauge. Its a matter of the spirit vs. letter of the law.

Whatever happened to telephones? Even skype. Aabuhu haduu noolyahay, why exclude him from such an important thing as this?
Naagtan hore miyaa looqabay? If so she doesn't need any wali.

Abdiwahab - brother I am angry at your stupidity all the time. People become wiser with age but you seem to be getting dumber as you grow older.

As long as uu baaluqay even at 15, He can be the wali. Wali is the closest blood male relative. Even her son is a wali if he is 15+.

As long as the kid has reached puberty it's valid, but your not allowed to circumvent the father if he's alive.
