Nobody should be surprised by this humiliating statement.

The support and bolstering of S/L is an Ethiopian strategic objective.
Ethiopia will never recognise S/L because it wants them weak and dependent, essentially a satellite territory.

P/L claims Sool/Sanaag to strengthen it's position in Xamar and to increase it's share of the aid budgets.
They have absolutely no interests outside the aforementioned reasons.

Horta could we see some military hostilities, skirmishes or maybe full scale battles between SL and Pland sometime soon? Ethiopia said Sool sanag belongs to Sland. As you know Amxaarta wouldnt say things like this out of goodwill and wanting peace between Somali or even for mediating purposes. Plus they said this after a few days Gaas was elected. Usually if amxaarta say jump, our leaders reply is always "how high?" This to me looks "isku diir" between two somali who are suspicious of one another but very submissive to amxaarta.
