Was it a prevalent attire among all Somali women or were they only worn among a certain region?

That's the traditional dress of the Somali women before the Yemeni Dirac proliferated the markets.

Guntiino is actually the traditional dress for all Somalis no matter which region they hail. Whatever name they call, like saddex qayd, garays etc it all comes down to guntiino..I love guntiino..

Every woman back then used to wear it because they had the bodies for it..hadda wey wada qarxeen so only dirac bey gashtaan.

Guntiino doesn't comply with the dress code of Islam. Somali women should stick to hijab.
