who stopped the war in 94? didn't know they had one.

They had some unadressed issues before but this was restarted by the Cia sponsored Arab spring.

There's been instability with Houthis, AQ etc. but this has potential to lead to secession again.

Yemen was unified under Ali Abdallah Saleh after the Soviet Union support for the South dried up. Northerners close to Saleh took up lucrative contracts and land in the South and in 94' the old leaders of South Yemen tried to secede again leading to an all out war. They lost that war but the same grievances haven't been dealt with and for the past few years a serious movement trying to call for secession( Herak) has gotten big support again. Now they're issuing official calls for armed resistance.

Not true. Americans are fully behind Sana'a. In fact the American ambassador to Yemen claimed Herak is supported by Iran.

You are missunderstanding me and I don't care who usa officially supports because It's politics changes are quick. My point was that the arab spring was used as means to uproot some leaders like qaddafi and it had consequences over the whole of Arab world. Unconsciously or not they sparkled the conflicts again when Sana repressed "their" spring as fighting alqaida and war on terrorism.

If Somalia was a functioning state it could easily annex the island of Socrata.
The Eritreans took over most of the Dhalak islands from Yemen.

^ socotra is nearer to somalia then yemen but is it worth fighting over a barren rock unless i've missed something
