Dont get me wrong Nomand i believe Siad bare did allot in his first 10 years from 1969 and 1979 the Somali republic was thriving highly self reliant though highly centralized state but we were making tremendous progress in health educations literacy the economy was making progress and Somalis went along with his scientific socialism. I believe he lowered corruption in the first 10 years and Somali nationalism was very high can you believe we fought against apartheid in South Africa , The Somali republic was a regional power house and a great example for the Africans. But Your uncle Messed things up when he declared an all out war on Ethiopia which crippled the economy a war we could not win army broken demoralized and what was left we were living on aid and the the aid was allocated to corrupted officials the population was living in terrible conditions coupes left right after the car accident Siad bare went mental i believe he trusted no one the MOD alliance started filling front seats. Military aid was used to keep the Somali population under occupation and the rest you know , all hell broke lose when he declared a war on Ethiopia and we came back from the war mass ogaden refugees Somalis started disliking the regime.

the useless somali nago movement didnt ouster anything - when marxist regime fall the north was still occupied by sna. it's was the spm and usc who freed you from morgan and gaani subjugation. i think your idoor clan is the only somali clan to have been fully subjugated by other somalis.

in short, somali nago movement was utterly useless - except for severing ethiopian strategical interests and shelling refugee camps.

The SNM was the only rebel movement fighting from 1984 up to 1991 the Girly ssdf gave up in 1984 after the Xabashi jailed Cabdilahi Yusuf, they gave up and sat on Siad barres lap he in-cooperated them into his government. SNM was the most organized rebel movement and effective and battled 2/3 of the Somali national army, SNM was hijacking airplanes and ships terrorizing the SNA left right, Siad barre miscalculated he believed when he made a deal with Mengistu and he sold the Ogadens out to Ethiopia. Siad bare went to the US state department and wanted his defense budget to be doubled why was that because he had to keep control over the north.Actually many of Hawiyes were also part of the SNM in 1983 we had a Hawiye deputy called Mujahid ali wardhiiglay later the god father of the USC. Syad bare thought that once Ethiopia no longer gives safe heaven to the SNM the SNM would give up he miscalculated and the civil war started in 1988 SNM had only 4000 to 5000 troops in 1988, by 1989 to 1990 SNM had 15000 militia, mass defection in those 2 and a half years made the regime crumble. The SNM not only fought the SNA it also fought the WSLF and broke its back in 1983 WSLF had been so badly humiliated. And in 1989 the USC demolition crew joined the war our comrades in the war but the Hawiyes had allot of advantage the USC stored allot of the weapons and with mass defection on their side from their clan defection from the SNA The regime was put to a rest.

Then why did it take until USC joined the fight to bring an end to the government?

Your not telling the full truth it seems:
1) The WSLF was dissolved in the early 80s as they lost their grip in their last holdings in the ogaden, it was soon replaced by onlf.
2) Abdulahi yusuf was jailed sometime around late 1985 and the SSDF went up in smokes becuase it internally imploded with internal clashes, assasinations, ethiopian intervention, and their were defections because of these reasons; some legged it to foreign countries, there was a group that broke off and created its own anti regime movement etc and as early as 1983 members were lured back to the regime. And the amongst several reason there were also ideological and power struggles as leftists in the ssdf did not like another group, and also Abdulahi yusuf (AUN) had almost complete control and was not willing to relinquish. Still ssdf did take parts of bari, nugaal in 1988.
3) In 1990 the government still held on to the two largest cities in somaliland. The biggest blow to the government collapse came from the USC and SPM.
