Industry sources say the deposits may exceed a quarter of the world's known reserves of 800,000 tons - making the find in Somalia the largest yet discovered. Moreover, they said, the uranium lies close to the surface and can permit strip-mining techniques which is far less costly than deep-mining.
sIn addition to uranium, international geologists have also discovered Yttrium, a rare and costly mineral which experts say can sell for six times as much as uranium per pound.
