Industry sources say the deposits may exceed a quarter of the world's known reserves of 800,000 tons - making the find in Somalia the largest yet discovered. Moreover, they said, the uranium lies close to the surface and can permit strip-mining techniques which is far less costly than deep-mining.
In addition to uranium, international geologists have also discovered Yttrium, a rare and costly mineral which experts say can sell for six times as much as uranium per pound.

Nothing new here. Biggest uranium deposits are in Galgaduud/Southern Mudug, Bay and outskirts of Mogadishu.

HH, before the civil war, I think every Somali citizen was entitled to serve a mandatory 2 years services in the armed forces or something as a duty to serve the country.
