I'm not Somali, but I recently met someone from the diaspora here in Minnesota from Erigavo and we've been talking about working on an education-related project somewhere down the road in the Sanaag. He was telling me about a city near Erigavo that's pretty much off the grid - it's the east of the city, so in the area ostensibly controlled by Puntland. He wrote down the city name - Awrboogays.

He made it sounds like it was close to Erigavo, but I don't see a place on any online maps that seems to have spelling even close to that. Does anyone have an idea where the city is or what alternate spellings it might have?

No reason to be a douche. It was a pretty simple question.

Awrboogays is a village in southern Sanaag whereas Erigavo is in northern Sanaag

It is near the Sool border. Lots of villages are off grid in this region.
