Recent revelations about weapon diversion to certain groups and turkish unknown cash to certain region has added fuel to the growing concern of strong centralised government will abuse the system, most somalis have nightmare about nepotism and injustice.
Internally displaced somalis are 1,040,000 according to the UNHCR most of them lives in camps mogadishu . those refugees are not from somaliland and puntland why?
if you get an answer to this question you will understand why federal system are only the solution to the injustice and nepotism.

somaliland and puntland have independent separate local administrators economically and politically that gives them chance to manage income from airport,port.tax etc.
they finance hospitals,schools and basic needs for the local people like police and justice system. ximin iyo xeeb galmudug are same and doing well
while rest of somalia( bay & bakool. sh.hoose etc) are refugee in mogadishu

dont be foolish mate. s/land is a separate country and if any part of real somalia (ex italian colony) acts like somaliland then they are acting as a country and basically what you call federalism will actually turn to balkanization. blame puntland in 1998 for this stealth secessionism
