Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
Enlighten us saxiib, what conflict?
Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
Thanks sxb
Apparently IGAD is taking advantage of the new AMISOM operations to be finished within the next summer so they suggested to the govt to adopt the local initiatives again in the post-al shabaab administrations-supposed 30 districts to be liberated-
Like in the old days, the govt want to appoint interim admins
According to an ex minister who is close to the president, amisom will carry on its military operations without the IGAD plan but some unconfirmed reports are saying the pm has/may agreed with the IGAD plan for stabilization during his staying in addis where he met the IGAD officials.
If this is true I guess It will cause the first khilaf with the new pm.
Other news
The arab meeting in doha has donated to the somali govt a $20m
The funds will reach the govt through qatar.

Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
It seems like IGAD is the main obstacle. Less influence from neighboring countries would be beneficial for your government. Just like SL they shouldn't let neighboring countries interefere politically and the only way to do that is to abolish (clan) Federalism. Former Somalia Italiana has to be ruled from Xamar but as a decentralized state. The next step would be building strong institutions and the military. Some people (Darood) are saying majority of the soldiers are from one clan, so be it, majority of SL soldiers are Isaaq. The importance however is their loyalty and the only way to achieve loyalty is by paying their salaries. Approximately 55-60% of SL tax revenues and port revenues goes to the military and not even new equipment but basic necessities and their salaries. If the government of Somalia can implement these strategies, they wouldn't be in this situation and Al Shabaab wouldn't gain support from different segments of the society, including nationalists who believe the country is occupied.
Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
your analysis would have been great if you didn't involve this with somaliland also its not right to call us ex italia, we are a country and an independent republic!Meyle wrote:It seems like IGAD is the main obstacle. Hate this in samatar, its a kinda snobish!
I don't think somaliland is politically more free from ethiopia than the somali govt, its the other way!
Our govt is forced to do this bc of the somali situation but at times they will ignore the ethiopian interests in favour of the egyptian interests
Believe me I'm a person who has a great knowledge of the somali govt, every thing ethiopia is doing now has a geoplitical reasons, its an exchange of interests.
The army salary was raised up to $200 for his pocket and $60 for his food.
Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
When I'm using the term former Somalia Italiana, I mean Raas Caseyr to Raas Kaambooni because that is Somalia. The Somali republic (Somaliland+Somalia) dissolved in 1991.
There's no political pressure or political interference from Ethiopia when it comes to Somaliland but unfortunately since we're not internationally recognized, Ethiopia uses the status quo for economic benefits hence the economical influence they have in SL.
You're right I shouldn't involve SL since it's a seperate country but I sincerely believe the only way for Somalia to stand on its legs is by abolishing Federalism. That's the first step.

Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
Lol dissolved? Who can dissolve it when its writen on our UNITED NATIONS seat?? Don't you know the FSG was given by the UN the control of every thing that the somali republic had?Meyle wrote:When I'm using the term former Somalia Italiana, I mean Raas Caseyr to Raas Kaambooni because that is Somalia. hassan sheekh is a president of an independent republic exactly like any other rebuplic in this world
Every country had a problems and we are not the exception, france has now its fifth republic and we have now our third somali rebuplic-without adding to it democratic or federal as it will be know in the constitution as soon the revision was made.
This card is funded by the UN, up to 5000 people have been given so far, its the only somali official identity recognized by the world!

I can say that we don't have the same relation that you have with ethiopia including getting defended "from an external threat" even there are reports states that ethiopia has sent a message to abdi wali gaas to not start war in the disputed region
Its differen angle of politics that needs a different understanding, its about the confidence wich they don't have in mogadishu hence the intervention also their economical interests in there-ports-
Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
What power does the UN have? Neither the UN or Somalia can force Somaliland to do anything not diplomatically or militarily.
There is no Somali republic, it dissolved in 91 because the name itself denotes the (illegal) union between Somaliland and Somalia and in order for you to have a ''Somali republic'' you have to have Somaliland in your midst but you don't and your country is today called the Federal republic of Somalia.
What the Ethiopian PM said has nothing to do with our leaders or our nation. There is no external threat to Somaliland and definitely not from any Somali entity.
Xassan Sheikh might be the president of an independent state however your president doesn't control Banaadir, not even certain sections of Mogadishu and in order to change the situation, your government has to change its policies.

Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
See how you changed the topic into your local region? You guys are so emotional wallahi, can you just come on your own as an independent analysts and leave your clans behind for once?
Again the somali republic is an existing being who doesn't need a recognition, FACTS
Call yourself whatever you like but don't use for us colonial names!.

Re: IGAD-GOVT conflict is back
How did I change the topic. I just gave you examples from my country in the first post. I then responded to what you wrote, nothing else.
Somalia is a colonial name and your country is called the Federal republic of Somalia not Somali republic and that's facts.
Anyways your government need to change its polices in order to change the situation.

Lol @ undercover. How can I be a dirty Waqooyi when I don't believe in a new union between Somalia and Somaliland?
Pointing out strategies with clear examples that's beneficial for your government is not advertising SL.
