Talk about getting married for all the wrong reasons. It's high time Somalis looked seriously into pre-martial counseling.

In the points you brought up, you seem to want to make it appear as if the quality of women have lessen somehow because they are desperate to settle down. In reality it is the quality of men that degenerated. You see, Islamically it is the men who were given the keys to lead and shape society's forefront, and the reason why we have issues like this today is because men have swayed from their roles.
I can't speak for women back home, but I do sympathize with them for settling in polygamous marriages. They got to live somehow and that is the sad truth.

Somalis dive headlong into marriage. If the girl loves the man there's no way she would demand such a high mahr. It's almost always couples who've been introduced to each other through family .
