U.S. Troops Unloaded 'Over A Hundred Bullets' Into Osama Bin Laden's Dead Body, Sources Claim

A new report at SOFREP, a website for U.S. special operations forces, claims to shed light on the issue of why photos of slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's body were never released to the public. According to unnamed sources within the special ops community, the images would have been excessively gory, because contrary to reports from officials and those involved in the operation, U.S. troops fired countless rounds into bin Laden's body after killing him.

In his book, "No Easy Day," Matt Bissonnette, a member of SEAL Team Six involved in the bin Laden raid, writes that he and another SEAL fired "several" rounds into bin Laden to make sure he was dead. But sources tell SOFREP the shooting was far more excessive:

But this is perhaps the most measured and polite description that one could give of how operator after operator took turns dumping magazines-worth of ammunition into Bin Laden’s body, two confidential sources within the community have told us. When all was said and done, UBL had over a hundred bullets in him, by the most conservative estimate.

Initial reports claimed two shots were fired to kill bin Laden. While that number climbed in later reports, the claims of "over a hundred bullets" would suggest a level of savagery and, as SOFREP puts it, "self-indulgence" not admitted in prior accounts of the operation. SOFREP notes these actions would violate the Laws of Land Warfare and build on a disturbing trend of alarmingly brutal military behavior that includes graphic evidence of U.S. troops burning and urinating on slain enemy combatants.

But an extreme degree of violence would explain why U.S. President Barack Obama's administration was so resistant to release a set of photos, for fear of a possible backlash against U.S. interests.

Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, sued the administration for access to the photos last year, claiming there was "no apparent nexus" between U.S. intelligence activities and the images of bin Laden's burial or preparation for burial at sea. A federal appeals court ultimately ruled the CIA did not have to release any of the photos.

Since they didnt show the dead body they can claim whatever they want for various propaganda reasons. Its futile to even speculate.

And we care about Osama because? He, America, Al-Qeada can all burn in hell.

Do you actually believe that Osama was really captured? For all we know is enjoying life somewhere in USA with fake identity and new face.

The most disturbing thing about the article is, the comments of the liberal leaning HuffingtonPost. Most had no problem with the report and in fact justified it. I wonder if James Dahl approves of this level of savagery by the supposedly professional and elite squad. I'm sure Grant approves.

What difference does it make whether it was two bullets or a thousand, he was dead after the first two, everything after that is desecration of a corpse.
America hates Usama ibn Muhammed ibn Laden to a degree perhaps only matched by how much Iraqis hate George W Bush. If a bunch of al-Qaeda Iraq commandoes burst into the Texas ranch of Bush and found him unarmed in his bathrobe, they would probably shoot him a hundred times too, or perhaps behead him on live television. Hate makes people evil and barbaric regardless of their nationality.

If you think one nation is any less capable of evil or callous or barbaric acts than the next one, you are just falling into the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. This goes something like this: A Scotsman hears about some brutal murder in England and a he thinks to himself "No Scotsman would ever do that", then the news report says he was Scottish, so he thinks to himself "No TRUE Scotsman would ever do that", etc.

Humans are all capable of terrible things, given sufficient resources, hatred, and lack of accountability.

grandpakhalif how much do you care about human rights? The United States of America are terrible hypocrites when it comes to just about everything they stand for, but what about yourself? Would you condemn human rights abuses against westerners in Muslim lands? Or would you justify it and say they deserve it for their own nation's sins?

It is this logical insanity that leads down dark paths. Al-Shabaab assassinated doctors who were treating their own people because they were westerners and they were available retaliation targets for American drone strikes. Now in this 'hypocrisy you can't criticize me for this' universe, this makes perfect sense, but looking at it from a normal point of view this is a monstrous, self-destructive action that hurt everyone including themselves.

This logic is what led Americans into invading other countries in the first place, Bush LOVED this logic, collective punishment for everybody!

Al shabab doesn't espouse to be the spreader of freedom and democracy and human rights, you'd expect better from those trying to convert us into their godless idealogy of secularism. The scope of violence that Al Shabab inflicts on foreign targets is far less damaging and far more miniscule. The U.S are busy firing hell fire missiles in heavy populated lands in Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan (NWT) and other muslim lands. These people are the same ones blowing up wedding ceremonies and refusing to pay the blood money or even acknowledge such incidents. Oh let's not forget the drone that killed 16 Awlaki jr an American citizen killed by his own nation due to his father.

So don't bother trying to compare the monstrosities carried out by America compared to Islamic groups, it's not even a fair comparison.

I'm not going to defame the death no matter how the vile the actions of the deceased took during his/hers lifetime, but he will be judged accordingly by Allah.

Executions are never pretty. Some of the head hacking I have watched on Jihaddi sites was not exactly prime-time kiddy material either. As HimanJalle reminded us, ugliness is not reserved for any one side. That said, I imagine there are many Americans who would not have been offended had they used one bullet for each victim of 9/11. For them, a hundred wouldn't say enough.

I have a nephew who trains drone operators for a living. I know for a fact that Zawahiri and Nasir Abdel Karim al-Wuhayshi are on his radar, and I trust Godane, etc. are also. You better believe I approve. Eliminating Shabaab etc. will not of itself create a free and prosperous Somalia, but it is a necessary first step in the right direction.
