Somaliland:Recent Remarks made by Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon Briefs Security Council on SL Political Situation
In recent Security Council briefing the secretary general of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon on Somaliland and Somalia had this to say on the current political
situation on Somaliland.
“In “Somaliland”, relations between the Government and the opposition deteriorated. The Justice and Welfare Party claimed it had been denied freedom
of movement and permission to hold peaceful demonstrations against the Government.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Irro”, Speaker of the “Somaliland” House of Representatives and Chair of Wadani (opposition party), announced his support for the holding of a national dialogue conference as called for by the opposition parties. On 18 December, talks held between “Somaliland” President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo and Speaker Irro resulted in an agreement on the holding of a conference, provided that a neutral party would chair it.

That is what the national dialogue conference is for. I have to say though the Secretary-General of the UN is well informed, I wonder who gives him
the info.

Our democratic system is out dated and it needs to be reformed. Can this government reform the system? I don't think so because for them it's beneficial but hopefully in the future.

HooBariiska Read some of the comments in the article they will leave you laughing to bed. Some people can be very ignorant, a self created
problem caused by the current Gov is not a problem caused by the opposition parties.

UN just upset just cuz we didnt let mr kay open his office in hargeysa...
let them continue with their calcaal...
AFter more than 23 yr of hard work and an extra 10 yr of reclaiming our land through sacrifice. They come out with the recent political clashes which bare in mind is what democracy is about.
UN should focus on mogadishu and keep their nose out of our affairs.

The Gov gave the UN the opportunity to interfere in our affairs when they decided to stand in the way of UCID presidential candidate Jamaal. You should not
blame your problems on others IMO, the UN only needed a loophole. They are lurking around like vultures and waiting for a little bit of instability so they can
use it as a pretext for their agenda.
