Egypt Court Sentences 528 Morsi Supporters To Death

An Egyptian court sentenced 529 members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood to death on Monday on charges including murder, a defence lawyer said, in a sharp escalation of a crackdown on the movement.

Most were arrested during clashes which erupted in the southern province of Minya after the forced dispersal of two Muslim Brotherhood protest camps in Cairo on August 14.

Political turmoil has deepened in Egypt since the army overthrew President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last July. Security forces have killed hundreds of Brotherhood members in the street, and arrested thousands of others.

"The court has decided to sentence to death 529 defendants, and 16 were acquitted," lawyer Ahmed al-Sharif told Reuters. The ruling can be appealed.

The charges against the group, on trial in Minya since Saturday, include violence, inciting murder, storming a police station, attacking persons and damaging public and private property.

Only 123 of the defendants were present. The rest were either released, out on bail or on the run.

The government has declared the Brotherhood a "terrorist" group. The Brotherhood says it is a peaceful movement. (Reporting by Asma al-Sharif; Writing by Michael Georgy; Editing by Andrew Heavens)
Those convicted are part of a group of 545 defendants on trial for the killing of a police officer, attempted killing of two others, attacking a police station and other acts of violence.

More than 150 suspects stood trial, the others were tried in absentia. Sixteen were acquitted.

The defendants were arrested after violent demonstrations that were a backlash for the police crackdown in August on pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo that killed hundreds of people.

Why feel sorry for the khawaarij, wahhabis* and terrorists?

* Wahhabis are similar to Islamists such as the Muslim Brotherhood in their belief in Islamic dominion over politics and government and the importance of dawah (proselytizing or preaching of Islam) not just towards non-Muslims but towards erroring Muslims.

Sad and this will lead to another round of millitancy.
and whats wrong with the brotherhood they have had a list of glaring errors throughout their history, always naively trusting the west, and the secular governments, and always getting betrayed.
Todays events are a replay of 1953 just replace Sisi with Gamal abdelnasser.

528 beards were needed to kill just one policeman huh. That must have been one tough assed copper. An imperishable Robocop. You'd think if it takes so many MBs to murder one secularist that they have nothing to worry from terrorists.

Looks like Fatah al-Sisi has learned from the error of Anwar Sadat: Even one Ikhwaani loose is one too many.

I bet the MB waiting for the noose understand what the Copts feel like now. And perhaps they will reconsider burning their churches.

 Its very interesting to see gurey25 feeling sad and demoralized at seeing how his fellow brothers in a debacle and then blaming on the west.

It is a fact that democracy is not for everybody. A savage people need a savage leader. It is as simple as that. LOOK AT WHAT Putin is doing now, I mean-- I don't agree with the imbecile, but he does get what he wants. WE don't see people protesting on the streets. WE DONT SEE looting and craziness. SURE the memorandum was all false and pro putin, but that's what it take to control idiots. DEMOCRACY is a sophisticated and highly refined concept for a sophisticated people like the Americans and the ENGLISH. (the Germans, the French, basically west of Europe-)

The Arabs, the eastern Europe, --most definitely the Africans, DEMOCRACY is not for them. Look at Siyaad Baare-- we all agree He was NOT a democratic president. He ruled the nation by actively defending his throne. Medieval style. He killed rivals, killed Sheikhs and made various qabils eliminate each other thereby reducing the number of his potential enemies. Such drastic measures are necessary. It is not a miracle Baare ruled for more that 30 years. It was pure dictatorship that needs to be respected for what it is. It was the right leadership for the right people. Baare united Somalis under his gripping iron rule of Somali haa noolaato. One united Somalia. Putin will do the same, today Crimea, tomorrow the entire Ukrain, and so forth and so forth. :dj:

Let the West and The east be separated by pure, nuanced and unadulterated codes of civilization. One Is sophisticated, refined and way beyond advanced in Human form, and the others, savages, actively re-enacting medieval times of ignorance is bliss. :dj:

its pity really, i pity those damn fools.
I share very little ideologically with them, i am a traditionalist while they are modernists in the islamic context.
They think they are assimilating modern ideas to better fight the west, i see them infected with western alien ideas.
