Of course it seems so simple to you privileged diaspora. Many of these Somalis are refugees. They leave Kenya, there is no going back. If shit goes down in Somalia, you can easily fly out back to your suburb. With what passport will they leave with? You think Kenya will take them back again?

Two, you cant just settle in any peaceful location in Somalia; boy your thinking reeks of diaspora. What support mechanisms are there for a Somali from Bay who moves to Hobyo? How will they reintegrate? Do you think they will be able to buy land as freely as they can in Kenya?

Also, many of these Somalis are from Southern Somalia, we are talking Mogadishu and south. You think security permits for these guys to give up their relative peace? Will a mother choose police brutality or being a casualty of a suicide bomb for her children?

I'm sorry, how much harder would it be for somalis to reintegrate in Hargeisa or Garowe than in nairobi or yemen? What possible amenities does Kenya have that the rest of Somalia hasn't? UN aid? The kenyans loot all the aid that is meant for somalis. Job opportunities? There are the same opportunities available. These people aren't physicians or engineers, nobody wants them. Safety? Clearly it's safer for them in SL or PL than being harrassed, beaten and deported in Kenya. Also these people are poor hungry and mostly rely on remittance. They can recieve the same services in Hargeisa or Burco or Bosaso. Suicide attack are happening in Kenya as we so I don't get your point.

The truth is you guys feel at home more in somebody else's country than your own. You will look for any excuse to leave. Look at the somalis in Yemen, kenya and ethiopia and the "wonderful" lives they lead. Women are prostitutes, men are terrorists and all of them suffering abuse at the hands of governments and other somalis.

Nairobi is a cosmopolitan city, with people from all over the world. Not to mention, Eastleigh in particular, the Nairobi suburb with all the Somalis, is a Somali cosmopolitan, meaning Somalis from every clan. Compare this to Hargeisa and Garowe. Now talk to me about reintegration. Amenities, again this is Nairobi. Kenya's education and health care does not compete with Somaliland and Puntland... I think you are forgetting Nairobi is one of Africa's most developed cities.... is there fiber optics in garowe?

Jobs-- well as you can see Eastleigh is booming. Business is rampant. It is actually one of the major economic centers in Kenya, in which people from Tanzania, to South Africa come to shop. Is that the same for Hargeisa or garowe?

Firstly if you think any sane human being is travelling thousands of miles to get better internet speed there's something wrong with you. Besides SL's BB is one of the cheapest and fastest in Africa. You say Nairobi is cosmopolitan, I say it's foreign owned. Majority of the businesses and wealth is in the hands of indians and whites. Secondly their healthcare and education don't mean jack if you don't have stacks. Thirdly, it is one of the most corrupt and crime-ridden places on earth. The horror stories I've heard about the levels of bribery, looting and murder would make you wish you were in Mog.

lol bro please don't take me out of context. you mention amenities. fiber optics is just an example to show Nairobi and places like Garowe don't compare. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice if Somalis would come back, that is the dream. But we cannot think in terms of idealism. It is not the best place, it is often no good for a Somali, but nevertheless your perception is skewed. Somalis are doing very well here in terms of business. In fact the indians perceive the Somalis to be of great threat. Billions of dollars go in and out of Eastleigh. You cannot talk ill of the business in Eastleigh. And given so, Somalis here go to some of the top private schools in the country. Even one of the eastleigh schools were featured in the news for its students producing some of the highest marks in the country. Bribery is bad, looting is bad, murder is bad, but you must ask yourself why are they still here? you think they would put up with this shit in vain? There are other dimensions too, but this is a conversation that would need days.
