Caucasian means from the Caucasus, it's from an old theory about "the races", where supposedly "white people" originated in the Caucasus mountains. It was written by a German guy, Christoph Meiners, in The Outline of History of Mankind (1785). His theories are completely incorrect, of course, and aren't even based on Evolution, this was pre-Darwin.

The only really correct use of Caucasian is if you're talking about Georgians, Armenians or maybe Azeris.

The term caucasian itself is a myth coined by the German racist Blumeach in late eighteen century. Since the caucasus mountains were the highest known peeks at the time he imagined his Aryan caucasian race must have evolved on the roof of the earth. To call one such term is even dumber.
