Population count by the UN through a scholary thesis done by a non somali using a valid population techniques is complete!

The UN has completed the north of somalia first (due to have safety and stability for this process) and will continue down toward south in the coming 6 months, any how this is the statistics of north (Somalia) population in Somalia as follows;

Puntland 2.4 Million
Somaliland 1 Million

But by looking at the map (look page 8 of 13) that has green spot in some areas (that) represents density of population, you can tell that HAG areas are tremendously large in population spreading in many areas withIn Somalia's different regions!

Don't forget that the 1 million Somaliland has it shares with Dhulbahante,Warsangeli and Reer awdal!,...while Puntland's 2.4 million shares only with Galmudug but excludes the Dhulbahante and warsangeli!

I couldn't understand this the map.. but i can put my life on it that puntland isn't even 1/5 of Somalilands population. Mannn those 2 1/2 towns dont even match Burco's population

Somaliland is way more than 1 million but I wouldnt agree with the 3.5 million figure the govt has been throwing around since the mid 90s. Hargeisa is probably close to 800,000. Somaliland is probably around the 2.5 million figure. In Somaliland, your identity can be traced within minutes. Even in Hargeisa, you can't claim anything other than what you really are. This is why Shabab cant operate openly there. In the bush, there's one person for every 5 miles

As for Puntland, I'm not sure about them but they are not more populated than Somaliland.

3.5 million was in 2007/2008, now the population is about 4 million. Hargeisa is about 1.6 million, burco is about 600k-700k.

I am not sure about puntland region but it is probably about anywhere from 800k to One million
