You didn't get the wisdom behind this old man saying.

In general a beautiful woman attracts more attention. But also the beauty of a beautiful woman makes a man more insecure especially if the woman is highly beautiful and possible out of your league.

So in general it is harder to maintain a beautiful woman, not because of her inner character but because of her outer appearance.
