Check out some of these old pictures. Wallahi you coulda said these were Somalis and I would've believed it. From their body shape, clothes, and complexion, I can easily see the resemble. I guess just like the european ashkenazi's have stolen the legacy of the jews, the people we know today as arabs also stole their legacy as well.

Painting of an Arab man wearing a head covering, unlike the Arabians of the past who obviously had little reason to shade their skin from the sun
"The Arabs of the Desert between Bassora and Damascus, according to M. De Pages a French traveler, 'run with extraordinary swiftness, have large bones, a deep brown complexion, bodies of an ordinary stature, lean, muscular, active and vigorous." (William Fleming, 1838, A Gazetteer of the Old and New Testaments, p. 117 concerning the Beni Amir bin Za'za'a of the Hawazin bin Mansur.)

Hadramauti man of the Humumi (or Hamumi), a tribe originally from Khor Saiban in the Yemen, north of Mukalla. Khor's brother is said to be "Homam". Genesis 36:22. (Saiban may be related to Eshban the Horite/Khorite). Not far away are the Hadramauti tribe of Sei'ar (Seir "the Horite").

Shammar Arabs of the Tayyi branch of Qahtan in ARABIA. These original Arabs are protected from the hot sun of the deserts only by their blackish complexions like their ARAB ancestors. The ancestral Saracens wore their hair in braids and dreadlocks and wore skirts to the waist in their fights against the Assyrians. According to Burvkhardt very few fair-skinned Arabs were seen in the desert in his time. But times have obviously changed.
