Its both. You are brought up with a particular religious orientation. But then as you become an adult you are able to choose for yourself your religious orientation.

we were discussting at work and my eldery co-workers were saying the shar3 and what is acceptable these day and i found intresting majority were open minded interm of the girl's unique situation.
my opinion religion/faith should not be inherited for individual and should look each situation seperatelly. specially a multi faith country like sudan.

according to what we have seen on the media the girl did not left islam by her choice but she was raised in gaalo house.
prophet mohammad said "no one is born except upon natural instinct, then his parents turn him into a Jew or Christian or Magian."

she did not left bro, she was raised only in christanity, also she refused to be muslim, hence that is why in jail. she is beed forced to be muslim.
so the woman is forced other way around. qof an muslim aheyn, just abaheed ba aha!! is wrong.
the thing is can happen every where and that is what we were discussing, how we can judge it in the court or politics will play big rule or the law!

Sudanese government is ridiculous with this. The woman was never Muslim, she was raised by her Christian mother and was raised a Christian. They need to let this woman free

I feel bad for her but what a courageous woman. Standing up to thugs. She could have easily just said "OK" and have her husband fake convert too so they can stay married. She rather die in the hands of thugs than be intimidated and dragooned by them

There is still confusion about apostate in Islam. Some scholars say that someone should not be killed for being an apostate whilst others scholars the opposite. Either way, I'm leaning towards the scholars that say apostate should not be killed. There is no compulsion in religion, lets not ignore the Quran Kareem.

Yeah there's differences in fiqh for apostasy.
But for this case, it shouldn't even be a matter of apostasy, because SHE WAS NEVER MUSLIM!!! The woman has always been Christian, she was raised a Christian.
Sudanese government needs to let this woman.
