Because we didn't want a federal system and to this day we do not want a federal system. We want a decentralised government. Every 18 regions in Somalia should have more say in their future whilst still having a central government. The UK is a excellent example and many other European countries. Also since Somalia is a homogenous country with tribal society the federal system is not a solution but a problem to Somalia. Making the country weak and allowing foreigners to control us.

The day these tribal states collapse the better for Somalia.

Ximan I was wondering if Reer Cabudwaaq chose not to join p/l. Were they asked to join? There wasn't even a central gov then, I'm talking about 1998.

Yes they were asked, we rejected. We don't want clan based federalism.

We knew from day one that the westerners and Ethiopia wanted to divide and conquer us.

How f-king noble of us, Lol..

But in reality it had nothing to do with the prevention of a divided Somali republic, even though a divided nation doesn't benefit anyone it is not upon Marehan or Rer Caabudwaaq to be the sole custodian of this fucked up country, if you need to be proud of something, stick to the facts, Marehan never contributed to the division and destruction of the country, however don't claim every decision our leaders made was to protect National interest. ##

We shed enough blood defending the shit hole for more than 2 decades, thank God it isn't our responsibility anymore.

Puntland was formed as reconcilliation between the clans and meant as to serve as a security check. Cabudwaaq was one of the regions intended and it went through a stage or two, but it did not work out because of the conflicts between the the two clans in kismayo.
