Who decided Hargeisa should be the capital?

It's not strategically located. It's right across the border from ethiopia. It's not near any oasis/wells and has no water resources. It isn't a port city and isn't located near or on a river. Seriously...

That doesn't explain why they chose Hargeisa. It has nothing going for it and in terms of location it's in the middle of nowhere.

The largest city should always be the capital city in all small countries, or/especially in countries where half the population lives in one city. It's practical

Hargeysa was the biggest city most populated city Hargeysa has allot of water in and around in the south and around geedeeble. but we need proper pipelines than the city can have more than enough flow of water. Berbera is a clan city and its a village its to hot no one can eve live there and reer berbera spend most of their time in hargeisa or burco.. if we ever going to change the capital it has to be sheikh. The british made berbera their colonial capital but in 1935 they moved to hargeisa they could no longer stay there.

I don't think you understand my question. I'm asking why was it a city big enough to be a capital in the first place? It makes zero sense location wise. And Berbera is infinitely better as a capital. How can a somali as black as midnight complain about the heat? There's a sea right there.

Have u ever been to berbera?
It was the biggest city of Somaliland and the second most populated city in the entire Somali peninsula
Whats wrong with the location its not like we are at war or have a dispute with Ethiopia.

Hargeisa has the best weather in the horn, water is not a problem but old pipes need replacement and new pipes need to be inserted. Also hargeisa was the second largest Somali city and second most populated.

Western Isaac need to keep the power close to them. Hargeisa is the only diverse Idoor town. The rest are villages settled by one habar or two angry ones.
Sheekh is good option and I personally like Sheekh but if we were to rebuild Somali Republic; the capital should be moved from Ugandisho to Erigaabo.
