Let this be a reminder to those who choose to travel to barbaric and dangerous places like Kenya. Can you imagine being flown to the other side of the world for medical treatment after being shot in the leg? Says a lot about the crappy medical services available in Africa
I am,

Blame useless somalis for not having a single useful doctor/clinic in the entire of Somalia. I have a family friend who lived in Hargeisa and was having stomach pains. The useless somali doctor diagnosed aid reflux or some other bullshit and sent him home. The irritation persisted and he told his symptoms to a HY doctor in ethiopia who advised that he get proper diagnosis. He recommended an indian doctor in Kenya and within a week the guy was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The guy was treated and recovered but the non-existent healthcare in Somali is worse than anything in Kenya.

Stomach cancer?? Alhamdulillah he's healthy now.
My little 8 yr old cousin came to visit us from America, same issue. Severe stomach pain, throwing up absolutely everything he put his mouth on till he lost +10lbs. All the docs told us he had 'gasti' which as he describes, is acid relux(???). Anyways, he went back to America early and he was on some meds until it cleared away. It's too bad, I thought our docs study abroad? Why is there this severe inability to diagnose and treat simple things?

Like all things in Somalia it stems from a lack of investment in education. There are "unis" in all over Somalia and the degrees are not worth the paper. All the foreign-trained Somali doctors don't give a fig about going back home either because they're making a lot of money in the west/middle-east.

Not all. I know doctors need to constantly update themselves in their field...viruses and infections mutate, and some drugs just aren't as effective as they use to be on previous strains of infections.
That being said, an uncle from Toronto who studied at one of the top Canadian med schools went back to Burco 'to make a difference'. Opened up a hospital and everything. I was staying in Burco, and inevitably (lol) got sick. I got a blood test, and he told me, walahi I kid you not "You have an infection in your blood. I don't know what it is, but there is an infection. Take these three antibiotics. If you don't feel better, come back." Insanity.
Bastard is sitting rich now, and I fear for the people of Burco who go to see him with severe cases.

Why we dont have proper docs and healthcare in qaarada inkaarta qabta? These are the reasons>
. fake credentials
. only for profit
. lack of equipment (mri or what have you)
. fatalistic culture (war wakhtigiisii ba dhamaaday)
. no government agency to verify these people's credentials
. lack of accountability
basically ka so qaad meel lagu baaba'ay
