Conflict and travelling in Mogadishu

Post by EvolSyawla »

Asc fam.

I am going to be delivering goods from Moqdisho port to UNSOA compound. We have sub-contracted a trucking company from there to transport the containers, but they told us they battle bullet damage, bombing, attempted cargo theft and al shabab on a daily basis. Obviously for more money to compensate risk. We've already requested a police escort, but they are really complicating things.

So logistically speaking, if there is anyone here who lives in the city, and knows which ends of the city this route is, could you please PM me and describe the validity of his claims.

jazakallah khair

UNSOA compound is located in the airport, near Xalane. (West side on Waaberi district) whilst the sea port is located in Xamar Jabjab.

They are not far from each other roughly (10 mins or longer depending on traffic), though there is a long route to get there. From the sea port you take the road of via waberi then down the roundabout you take the airport road all the way to halane.

Safety wise, it is one of safest area of Mogadishu. So they are totally lying to you. Just tell them you going to a different trucking company if they keep bothering you.

Thats three of the exact same sentence from you guys.

XimanJaale, Walaalo, thank you, that is great info to be aware of. Very much appreciated. Threatening a different trucking company works, except if worst comes to worst you know?, It was hard enough to find this clown...

Thanks for the help everyone!!
