Somalia is not important. That man is a Liberal who was appointed 10 years ago to Abuja by a different govt. The government today didn't even bother looking for a Conservative appointment for Mogadishu. There will be no relationship. The fact they gave that position to a political enemy just proves how unimportant Somalia is

You dont get it. Ambassador and diplomat positions have nothing to do with experience but partisanship

Experience is never a factor. Have you been a loyal party supporter? Do you have party ties? Have you donated to the war chest? This guy was just dumped to a place he obviously didn't want to go just to be filled in some useless position. This is just humilating for the guy and Somalia. Absolutely no thought in the appointment shows Somalia's importance

you are joking right, ambassadors are purely selected on experience. They are civil servants and are purely selected on merit. There would be hundreds of people losing jobs every few years

It may be different in your country. If a new govt comes in they most of the time finish their term and then a new partisan ambassador is picked. If its an important country they resign on Election Day if the other party that didnt appoint them wins. They go back to the capital and apply for internal govt jobs or do something else. Low level diplomats are different. They stay. They are not important

I don't know whether celebration or mourning is due, according to the appointed Ambassador, as he is going to live in a country whose Government can't protect it's Headquarters from Terrorist attacks. Let us not blind ourselves the reality on the ground.

This is a nail in the coffin of the separatist triangle enclave up north.
