that's political naïveness! The`Republic wrote:It has less to do with Hassan Sheekh than the fact Somalia is "out of transition. " The US set the scene early when they recognized the first "non-transitional" government. Every other country wants to say they came in early when the country actually stabilizes and reconstruction contracts and investment opportunities are up for grabs.
Lol I don't think so because besides I'm a good reader of the middle east and islamist politics, im well informed about the turkish story, firstly, it was shaykh sharif who chose turkey over the west and it wasn't a turkish initiative! Many politicians believe that it was one of the few good things sharif has ever done in his era. The westreners are like lawyers they care about their interests first says one of the mogadishu politicians in a non public meeting! The`Republic wrote:No it doesn't, you are just a propagandist for Hassan Sheikh. I don't even oppose Hassan Sheikh and I think he is misunderstood a lot, but the number has of credentials received has nothing to so with HSM or DJ per se (it could be anyone there) and more to do with the trajectory that has been set by the international community as a whole post-transition. Certainly Turkey was a catalyst, but Turkey became a catalyst during the transition and Sheikh Sharif. In fact the entire trajectory that was set during the big publicity of the Western world regarding the post-transition does in deed have to do with Turkey. All this predated Dj and HSM.
Somalia has been like a baby la koolkoolinayo since the new parliament was sworn in and after the two big Western boys (USA and UK) bestowed recognition for the post-transition the gear has been rolling.
In fact from every assessment out there particularly the US there is palpable disappointment with Hassan Sheikh. The national security report for Somalia presented to US State Department was scathing in its critique of HSM as an effective president. It called him weak and unable to take the post-transition to the next level. Yet couple months later the US said it will send the first full Ambassador?
These countries think strategically and long term, the present is expendable. Somalia is on a "koolkoolin" program. Yesterday they pushed ending the transition lavishing all support and confidence on Sheikh Sharif whom they distrusted and thought in effective---only because they were thinking long termand knew Sheikh Sharif could leave ttomorrow. Basically they hold their nose and continue to prod and push Somalia slowly and determinedly forward.
When the time comes, favors will be sought and influence will be gained by holding this time up as a loan.
You are just a backward third world propagandist who thinks too excitedly about the nuances of these developments.
