A HEALTHIER WAY OF BREAKING YOUR FAST
For those of us who fast longer than 12 hours, our liver resorts to burning sugar polymers called glycogen, it's the first source of energy, second to this is body fat , to which the body resorts to when it depletes all glycogen stores. By filling ourselves in Suhr and Afur with unnecessary amounts of calories we give our body the next day a harder task of digesting what we consumed, which is why we feel super tired, our body uses up all of its energy to just recycle all of the Israf/excess that you ate the previous night. People who eat significantly less than that will have more energy because of their body not using it to break down foods in digestion, which is obviously a plus.
You should always break your fast with a small fruit, in this case dates, if you hate dates then maybe grapes, but a fruit will suffice. It's also important that you consume alot of water during the interval period between dusk and dawn, headaches, being dizzy , are symptoms of dehydration. Ramadan is a perfect time for you to decrease the amount of food that you eat, invoking longevity and a healthier lifestyle, you don't have to eat a mountain of food because of fear the next day being extremely tired. If your someone who carries more pounds than you need then your body has enough nutrients to get you through, it's just that your body is in a state of denial when you do not give it food, it will try to do anything besides resorting to burning fat because that's something it does only for emergency (I.E NO NEED TO PANIC AS IF YOU'RE GOING TO DIE -__-)
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO DURING THE DAY
If you ain't working during Ramadan, the day should be spent in building a connection between you and Allah (swt), as well as accumulating knowledge, either relating to Islam or other things such as wildlife, history, spirituality etc.. You should also spend some time of the day reflecting, or meditating, preferably while uttering words of worship such as (Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulilah, Astaghfirullah, Subhanallah) etc.. or you can meditate while sending salutations upon the prophet (saw), a deed Allah encourages in the Qur'an with a profound statement,
The idea is to reconnect to your fitra, or your primordial state when you entered the world, looking at the entire world from a different spectrum, knowing that one day you will leave all of this, knowing that when you wake up in the next life it will seem as if you lived on earth for only a day. God-conciousness is the goal you want to achieve, being aware of Allah's presence at all times, this safe-guards a Muslim from all the probabilities that arise that lead to wrongs, and it also helps him/her choose the right decisions at all times.Verily Allah and his angels send blessings upon the prophet, O you who believe, send blessings upon him 33:56
Books! Read books, try your best to break the gripping addiction of checking your phone every 10-60 seconds, yes, it is an addiction. Fortunately my phone broke a few months ago, and believe it or not life does become more simpler, but it's not only the phones you should stay away from, but from TV sitcoms, films, the laptop, music, just try and live without these for 30 days, set yourself this goal and see the changes for yourself.
PS don't read romance novels or any other irrelevant type of book, read something that will actually benefit your mind and not something that will tickle your fancy.
