Many of us- Somalis- become champions of pan-Africanism every four years despite our bigotry to other Africans.
However, every four years, it is the same old story. It seems that we are watching a rerun of an old poorly directed movie staring ciyaalka xaafada. We start by exaggerating the potential strengths of African teams. We create expectations and raise our hopes. But, we are always disappointed. The outcome is always the same; disorganised defensive lines, indiscipline and sloppy play from professionals that are on the a-team in their respective clubs.
Many of the players behave as if they are on a date to impress ladies. They seem to lend support to the racial picture of the African man,as a primitive sexual being that suffers from gonorrhoea of the brain.
Ghana, Algeria and Cameron (the first time Mexico won against an African team) have all lost their opening games against what were billed as poorer teams. The Nigerian game against Iran was probably the worst game of the tournament. With a 0-0 score against Iran, Nigeria does not deserve to win any of its two remaining game.
With two matches remaining against strong teams, I am guessing none of the above 4 teams will qualify for the second round.
Ivory Coast won but not convincingly.
