I don't know if it's the actual chicken or the way they cook, but the chicken I ate in xamar was the most disgusting chicken I ever ate. It's either undercooked or overcooked, and I ate it at the fanciest restaurants. Maybe they cook it with tap water which is very very salty. I don't know it just taste like shit. Very dry and unchickenlike. Eitherway chicken is not popular and is seen as a poor man's meat. I don't think demand is gonna go up unless you change the culture. A Nando style restaurant would be a start.

Chicken is not so popular especially in rural areas. But go ahead, there is potential with that idea.

You won't find tender chicken back home...it has to do with how the chickens is raised. You're better off investing in fish/tuna.

Calm down we eat Chicken in the South too, but it is confined in the urban areas especially Mogadishu. But the meat is not popular for the locals. They mainly eat goat, camel or fish and occasionally beef. Chicken is mostly ordered by the diaspora's.Mrkutiiriye wrote:That's what'm saying to these southerners...they haven't been to HargeisaHawdian wrote:In Hargeisa its popular. In Somalia chicken farm doesn't exist, maybe 1 or 2. They usually roam free. I think the Somali Bantus are the only ones that take Chickens serious, they usually have some in their farms.Mrkutiiriye wrote:Horta , one should never eat those city raised chicken in Somalia..they are skinny and malnutrition.
