Even if you become the most slavish dog nothing will change, only humiliate your dumb ass with no result. What else have you got?

The only possible way out is to eliminate Godane, put in place someone who is more wiser. Reformation within alshabaab. They need a leader who is brave, not tribal, avoids killing of civilians(also suicideattacks), only targetting the enemy.
A group that is ready to talk with the enemy without laying down weapons just like Afghan Taliban. Diplomacy is allowed in islam. The prophet pbuh himself was diplomat.

I dont think Godane is tribal. And yes the gov is trying to eliminate him... but as can be seen they cat do it. Even if they do, someone like him will replace him. Assuming alshabab made those changes you suggested, the west will still never accept them and you know everything rests with them.

He is tribal. Just look at the places he attacks since his leadership started in 2009. These are facts not theories.
Shabaab needs someone who is fair enough to attack all places where there is puppetmaamul taking orders from xabashis/kenyans.
Ofcourse with new amiir it does not mean the foreigners will accept them. They want to destroy everyone that wants quran and sunnah to be the only law in the land.
This shirqool started way before colonization.

My point is shabaab lost popular support. They have great opportunity now to regain that support by appointing new amiir and new strategy. Killing journalists scholars and other civilians is not really helpful. It gives gaalo and gaalraac more amunition and the muslims will prefer them above shabaab.

Another point is name changing. Clearly the leaders of alshabaab are not young/shabaab themselves only the footsoldiers.
Islamic Emirate of Somal is better name.
Or islamic republic of Somal. This shabaab name is getting old and boring.
