Let's Admit it

Post by SultanOrder »

We are going to lose weight this Ramadan, with 19 hrs of fasting. Question is how much weight are we going to lose?

For Basra, this must be a dream come true, a forced diet.

It's not recommended in the long run but for the duration of Ramadan, if you still plan to gym...you could double your pre and post supplement intake to steady your weight somewhat.

That's in the Middle east, where night and day is more balanced. But how much can you eat in a five hour span? Your stomach shrinks in the process and you end up eating less and less through the blessed month.

Adali for god's sake isku xishood, the blessed month is upon us.

Sxb it's not eating five hrs straight, but you only have five hrs to eat. You didn't digest your afur before it's already suhuur time. You have 9hrs btwn maghrib and fajr, big difference.

Hmmm Its a bit more interesting and complicated than that.

Fasting or more appropriately starving yourself for such long hours (19-20 hours) will technically make you lose but things aren't so simple...

As you eat less and starve yourself the body automatically goes into starvation mode, from then on almost everything you consume will be turned into fat by the body regardless. Its all part of a mechanism our bodies have evolved to combat things like famine which were common to our ancestors.

This means that in the long term you'll likely not lose weight at all and after Ramadan you might even gain weight.

Edit: This applies more to those of us fasting 19-22 hours.

China do you forget that we are also active in the day time? There is no way Misty of us can take in as many calories in 5hrs that we will be buring the whole day. Your example works best if we were non active.

lol At best you'll stay the same bro.

Anyway that's all good and well but what about when Ramadan finishes and you start eating properly but your body is still turning whatever you're consuming into hard to get rid of excess fat? It'll probably take few days for your body to adjust properly in any case.
