How do you know thats a good question , it is if you take a bit of effort to explain to others that they dont confuse you with our neighbors two weeks ago i was buying snacks at a Cambodian shop and the woman asked me where i originally was from and i told her i was from Somaliland and she said where is that and i explained in details i told the lady that if she sees a Somali or east African person always ask if he or she is from Somaliland. I know many Landers who would not go and explain to others when they are confused for other nationalities. This is how you distinguish pure Somalilanders with Somalilanders who are only Somaliland nationalist on 18 may.

Khalid good on you and that's the right spirit. At work everyone calls me Hargeisawi even my boss knows where Hargeisa is

I normally tell them that I'm an Ethiopian of ethnic Somalilander. I never once told anyone that I was from Somalia.

Some of my white friends at times get confused and question me: "how can you be Lander but Ethiopian too?"

My answer: "Think of it like the Germans in Austria. I am like that. Hitler was both German and an Austrian and I am like that"

Then they go on about: "Oh so you understand Desalem's language right and Abdi's and Ayantu's"?

I even bring them Lander food every two weeks. I show them SL websites, on FB I share maps, history, everything with them. They are educated about the region and they thank me every day.
