Re: Kurds about to breakaway from Iraq
Iraq will be partioned unless Sunnis are included in running the country. In the short run, the winners are the kurds. They have gained more than 40% new territory. But will Turkey allow the creation of Kurdistan? and the Sunni Arabs will turn against them. The Kurds are also Sunnis so the conflict will have an ethnic dimension; Arabs vs Kurds.

There are a lot of borders around there that were simply made up at the end of the first world war, I think. I don't know enough about it, but I wonder if this was one of those situations

Re: Kurds about to breakaway from Iraq
how about the shias they can join iran if they want. so who is the looser here other than the socalled sunis. free kurdisran and free scotland is VIKlCTORY FOR SOMALAND. i am 99% sure somalia will follow the footsteps of iraq. we all know somalia is not functioning government right now(iraq government is partly functionaning it has ground and air defence forces )
so there is no way somalia can stop if all or most federal states declare their own independences. for example if pintland wants to break away we will support her legally and militarily and probably together we will dismantle the remaining pro-unionist elements . thats the end of the name SOMALIA. in other words pintland and somaliland can work together to disolve somalia, keep in mind no one can stop us if we decide todo so.

The only difference that exist (if any) between the Somalis is a political one which could easily be solved if they really want to and fiefdom is a thing of the past, those who seeking it are only securing their personal benefits under the fake umbrella of protecting the clan honor.
As for the Kurds, they have been marginalized for so long, the people of Salahdin and Turan Shah should seek their freedom.

Re: Kurds about to breakaway from Iraq
I believe a few countries will recognize them but the UN and other body's will not Israel and perhaps other nations who have stake in Kurdistan similar the sahraawi republic in Morocco recognized by a few countries. Still the Arab league the European union and the US will not endorse a Kurdish republic the US has invested to much in Al maliki and the shia dominated government, but the kurds could gain momentum. I believe it will be similar to South ossetia.
