These famines most of the time are man made. Currently there are two places suffering from famine. Buuloburde and Xuddur. Both town's transportation are closed by shabaab and no food and goods are allowed to arrive there by road.

Buuloburde and many other southern settlements are on the river. Why do you need aid to be transported, learn how to farm the fertile land instead
of starving every year.

95% of food security in south Somalia comes from foreign aid, so that shows even the "peaceful" areas don't make use of the land.

Most of the food is imported in Somalia apart from meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. Somalia is in civil war. Free food aid is usually consumed by IDPs in camps, not your ordinary people. Do me a favor and concentrate on how to dig more wells and installing water pipes in your capital city's house holds where water shortages are common okay.

Hence my point. Southerners have nobody to blame but themselves for the reoccuring famines. They have a fertile land yet keep importing and the
situation staying the same. As for Sland, Hargeisa's water problem is to do with the aging pipes that need replacing not lack of groundwater.



Anyhow GIJamaac good luck preparing and digging the farms before it is too late, the UN is saying the horror of 2011 that killed over 260,000 southerners

There is a reason why the Bantu expansion before slaves were imported never reached the Horn. Bantu agriculture is based on agricultural tools mostly suitable for very wet territories. Southern Somalia is a territory that straddles the semi-desert lowlands and the rich wet tropical parts of coastal eastern Africa........hence why It's a place with common and recording droughts and unpredictable rain patterns.

This is the reason why most of the famine affects those certain communities along with some of the Raxanweyn who use a similar agriculture method. Add to that the war, The dependence on food aid etc The majority pastoralist Somalis are also affected a lot of times but the settled farming based communities are most effed majority of the times. Pastoralists practice a very mobile lifestyle and usually if one region is affected by drought, they tend to move on to other grazing areas.
