Marehan in talks to join Puntland

60 Marehan (from Galgaduud AND Gedo) students have received scholarships to attend Puntland Universities, includes free board and food.
Puntland Education Ministry is looking to provide funds for an additional 40/60 Marehan students. The clan has a Minister in Garowe who is carrying out research to find out what the most pressing concerns are in Balanbal/Dhabat and other rural areas so that PL can roll out the state there.

IF this succeeds, Marehan will be the 2nd clan after Dir to join the state in recent times. This union is vital to the healing of our nation, one step at a time.

If they join, Puntland businessmen can choose to exclusively use Marehan drivers and businessmen when transacting with Central Somalia.

In addition, Marehan students will receive PL scholarships and health benefits, instead of being robbed blind by the criminals who are holding the SFG hostage.

What else is there in Central Somalia? Ahlu Sunnah doesn't have international legitimacy or the experience to barter with the UN and other donors.

Dir in Mudug recognised the disadvantages of being in limbo and joined Puntland in 2011, I don't see why Marehan would want to sit on their hands and do nothing whilst everyone else is getting a share of the Puntland pie.

Make a logical decision based on pragmatism instead of being reactionary. A political union WILL happen between North-Eastern Daarood/Dir/Madhibaan and Marehan, either as a Federal Somalia or as a Federal State.

At present Marehan in Central Somalia are in a very difficult and unstable situation, they can either

A) Choose wisely and eat with an established State
B) Wait for Xaad and Diiriye and the other Hawiye leaders to come home and form a Central State.

The Merehan in Galgadud have two options in this federal system.
Join a Hawiye state in South-Central Somalia OR join Darood state in the North.
Those are two options that Northern Merehan have
