African Proverbs and Sayings

Post by BeyondQabil »

When a man is stung by a bee, he does not destroy all beehives

The man who marries a beautiful woman, and the farmer who grows corn by the roadside have the same problem

A short man is not a boy

No matter how hot your anger is, it cannot cook yams

It requires a lot of carefulness to kill the fly that perches on the scrotum

If the throat can grant passage to a knife, the anus should wonder how to expel it

The frown on the face of the goat will not stop it from being taken to the market

An old lady feels uneasy when dry bones are mentioned in a proverb

The same sun that melts the wax, hardens the clay

A child can play with its mother’s breasts, but not its father’s testicles

He who goes to sleep with an itching anus wakes up with smelly fingers
:damn:

I wonder what this means

Accept your fate?

....?

He who goes to sleep with an itching anus wakes up with smelly fingers
Don't leave problems over night? lolll

He who forgives, ends the argument.

I think this would make it plainer. Extremely beautiful women can be very stressful. But I'm sure The guy that every woman is swooning for is much weaker.
I will tell you that I have outgrown the need to have arm candy myself. While I appreciate a woman that everyone thinks is hot, more often than not they come with a whole set of baggage that I'm tired of dealing with.

Sometimes it's nice to have someone that just seems normal, genuine and caring. Someone you can actually feel comfortable being yourself with. Someone you can trust. Those are the things that are really attractive to me. Trust him to know what he is attracted to.http://www.enotalone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130867

I think this is similar to "The noise of a frog doesn't prevent the cows from drinking water." For example, if i send a girl on Snet PMs and she refuses to reply, that will not prevent me from sending more pms. :stylin:

A child can play with its mother’s breasts, but not its father’s testicles

I think this is more of a saying. It is very literal and plain. Children play with their mother's breast, but not the fathers testicles. There are some things to play around with and others no.
He who goes to sleep with an itching anus wakes up with smelly fingers

Plain meaning - a person who goes to bed with an itching anus, will spend some time scratching his anus and thereby waking up in the morning with smelly fingers. I thing it's similar to if you lie with the dogs, you'll wake up with fleas.

He who forgives, ends the argument.

The one who wrongs, forgets, the one who was wronged, remembers. How come i'm still troubled by the 10 shillings that i stole from my best friend when we were in standard 6? :?

Well the girl probably receives many PMs and has decided to stop responding to users she doesn't know? loll

You have a conscience, you are blessed for that. It is less common for those to remember someone they have wronged.

I think it means both the farmer and the husband of such a beautiful wife should fear others constantly stealing gazes or worse from their "property"
