We achieved many firsts.
The first voluntery union of colonial territories.
the first decocratic handover of power.

the after 1969 it was the beginning of the end.

That wasn't a democracy. It had the look of a democracy but it was really a 3 clan dominated, corrupt to the core adminstration that functioned like a monarchy. It did nothing for the country and did not even a build a single school in those 9 years. Instead the politicians sent their kids to overseas to be educated so they can later on replace them while the rest of the country stayed complete illiterates. Why do you think the bloodless revolution of 1969 was welcomed all over the country?

It might not have been true democracy (there are differnt types of democracy btw) but the whole country was in its infancy. Siad barre never gave somalia a chance to become a democracy, communist or whateer. The country belonged to him and him alone since the day he grabbed power.
