i thought it was a place almost covered in water. somewhere that is a few miles away from becoming a full island. like Sinai, Africa as a whole! and arab peninsula.

besides somalia forms a number 7 figure and is only covered by water from 2 sides

The eastern coast isn't straight, the southern half actually slants westward so perhaps that constitutes a third side. Besides, from what I understood, the Peninsula seems to be in reference to the Horn, not just Somalia.

that's on a map that's zoomed out millions of times. That point on the 7 figure is probably hundreds of miles wide, and thus satisfies the requirements of being a peninsula.
