Internally Displaced Somalis (IDS)

Post by DamallaXagare »

I came to realize the IDS or Internally Displaced Somalis are the people whose properties were confiscated by warlords. Besides, these Somalis were mostly farmers who had never travelled outside Somalia until the forced displacement which was done to them after the civil war.

They are dependent on other Somalis as we depend on each other , but they are dependent on the welfare of Somalis and they are from every region.

It seems outdated because of the exclusions of Awdal and Sool, but this is what U.N relief agency currently uses to allocate food aid to Somalia. The regions shown on the map , the 16 regions as opposed to the 18 regions of Somalia, happen to be the centers of allocation processes.

eg, Sool ffood aid is adminstered from Garowe and Awdal is adminstered from Hargeisa. I am sure you have read about the management disputes of such aid from GArowe in relation to Sool.

well Hargeisa deported 100s of IDS to the south and i don't see why they did that? The largest number seem to live in Bari and they are assissted by the people there and the U.N.

DAMAL

Its very sad most of them are reluctant to go home while there no apparent solution to the interlinked problems of luck of security and the poor economic prospect in the country. However, I'm stonished to see controversy in Somaliland goes among it, according to my survey.... Somaliland escaped inevitable slide into anarchy. On other hand, I had'nt heard any deportation of 100s of IDS. Crying or Very sad

Why would they want to go home? They are where they supposed to be and no somali person should segregate them from living part of their homeland. They are Somalis and should live whichever place gives them comfort and security.

Rightwing, The Federal government was adopted to let every region have its own internal adminstration and manage its own affairs. You could have your own police, court in which you have jurisdiction, and a governor. Somalialand would be part of the federal system and it should derive its legitimacy from being part of the federal charter. AU, EC and italy have alrready set up the Somali demilitirization unit framework.

Just from my piont of view they aren't where they supposed to be. They had left their families, homes and farms. The war was a devastating blow... I'm sure thousands of them are hoping to return to their homes and farms one day.

On the other hand Somalia is the only country in the world with no government..I don't understand which federal government you were talking about.

I'm sorry if I disappionted you, there was a referendum in 2001 where 97% of the people wanted to remain Somalilanders. Somaliland Growing Nationalist Movement has only further radicalize their way to run their country which is not negotiable.
