USA is not the same

Scotland is completely different people to English and welsh
They have different traditions and even a language. I defensively think the union has much more to loose if scotland left then scotland. scotland has the north sea oil which is worth billions. All the notable inventions were mostly of Scottish genius

I agree with everything u said. Scottish people are amazing. From literature, education, and full of history. I am actually reading a book now about a Scottish. John LAW. The first financial banker guru.

I am also watching a documentary about the Scots people. Very smart. When the Oil company came knocking in 1970s, the local Scots demanded that the oil company pay fee for using the oil. The fee have been put in trust fund-- and since then it has accumulated to 290 million pounds. Not counting what they have invested. Apparently they invested strongly and only used the profits on things that benefit the community. Like a luxury swimming pool, a museum, jobs, home care for old people--that is only the interest from investment. The real crunch of the money is still growing in savings, nearly 300 million. That is spectacular. Imagine this happening in Somalia????? Never. Some Siyaad Baare would have used to the money str8 away.

They want to keep the pound, England says No

They say they'll be part of the EU, that's not immediately guaranteed

They say they won't have to pay back the bailout money for RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland), England says they do

If they're not part of the EU and they're not part of the UK, what does that mean economically? Movement of goods and people? Border patrol? If they are sharing the pound how will policy be made?


A few companies have said they'll move out of Scotland if they leave the union. To be honest Scotland is being bullied by all these questions and scenarios and it's ridiculous also that they've not come up with a real and realistic plan that makes people and businesses comfortable with an independent Scotland. Highly entertaining time.

I personally like the movie---Brave heart with Mel Gibson. I have watched it many times. Particularly the scene where Gibson meets the Queen who is French, and the speak French. (very unlikey that the character Gibson was playing spoke French) But anyway, it was sexy. Somehow, I get a sense that they are real men. Manly with Stamina.


The Irish are poverty and kinds dumb--why though? The English are aristocratic, but lazy and take advantage of others to uphold the aristocracy. Does it remind u of sectors of the Somali diaspora qabils?

Well, if u want to play the BIG boys game-- u gotta wear the BIG boys pants. I absolutely agree they cannot use the UK pound. Well, they can become part of the EU--and use the EU money--that doesn't guarantee anything. Look at Greece.


Personally, I don't see anything good in separating. Union is a great tool to go ahead. Abraham Lincoln was amazing to absolutely refuse the south from separating.

you have to realize that No sterling also mean no national dept, Scotland won't have to share the Uk's large dept

As for the EU, Scotland doesn't need to join as they are basing their economic model on Norway which has lots of oil similar to Scotland and they are not in the EU not to mention the fact that they are one of the most prosperous nation on earth.
Movement of people and goods will not be a major issue. I think out of the four nations in the Union, england is gaining the most out of it while scotland is gaining the least out of it.

I have no doubt Scotland has a potential to thrive like Norway waraa---but still---Jas is right when the oil ends what then? But I still think even if the oil ends, Scots will be fine. Their work ethics is similar to the Norwegians and the Germans. They are not lazy people. I think at the core of a nations successes they have to be hard working people who save and spend less. That's the crunch of the secret. I wonder why I don't follow these ethics myself?
