In 2011, an international peacekeeping force pushed al Shabaab Islamists from Somalia's capital city. The fight continues in the countryside and in Mogadishu. The weakened extremists launch periodic suicide bombs and IED attacks.

For a generation, the lives of young Somalis have been obscured by the violence. Today, the fragile peace in Mogadishu allows youth to imagine a future beyond war.

We asked five people to share their stories.

When I read "vice", I thought it was something else :) Dirty mind.

Great video. I think it sums up what is happening in Muqdisho. It is a resilient city. The poet has excellent voice. The video blogger :up:

When I am dowm and thinking about Muqdisho, I listen to this song about Muqdisho by Hibo Nuura.

VIce docs are always lacking. They start a great idea, but somehow it feels half-assed. Will download this and watch later. Thanks for sharing.

Great video. These are the ordinary young people who are filling the roles that matter the most. We forget they're even out there most of the time.

Maybe Allah bring the people of Xamar and all of Somalia much needed peace, amiin.

Accountability is a word that should enter the somali terminology. What accountability has there been to this day regarding Xamars sorry state. Turks aren't the problem. :up:
