spices = xawaash, whether it's 1 type or mixed. 1 type are also given their own name, e.g. fenugreek = xulbad, cinnamon = qurfe, cardamom = hayl.

in the southern regions of Somalia, Xawaash refers to the spice mix that is added to savoury dishes: meats, stews, soups, etc. However, in the northern parts of Somalia, Xawaash is used in a broader sense and it refers to any spice mix, even the spices that are added to tea and coffee.

This reminds me of the struggle I had when my mom sent me out for xawaash. Cumin is what I learned to bring back when hooyo said xawaash.

Lilly, if they meant geedo adari then why not say so?

:mindblown:
