Organizations like these are fake, somalis do that in canada too they go to the government and say were planning on making a organization that helps the somali community. Wallahi they take 2/3 of the money for themselves, its alot of money too its a legit business. They have days like these too, some sort of party and local police are there to show support.

Its such lies even in dixon the somalis told the police to f*ck off after people were abused during a raid that happened a while back, including elderly woman.

Lol @ underwhelming....most of these ice bucket things are. So annoying.

Classiq, really? I remember the Dixon and backlash, but I haven't heard about the fake organizations. I wonder if they started with good intentions and were swayed with the amount of money they ended up with?

They tell teens we will be playing sports and there will be free food. They make sure the teens sign up so they can go to the government and say all these kids are apart of our organization and the more people the more money they get. They dont even create jobs for young somalis just basketball lol. i boycotted those people long time ago tho.

Somali organizations are the biggest scams.

One Somali organization in Ottawa which I will gladly name (SOMALI FAMILY SERVICES), headed by a man originally from Minnesota, has an annual budget of $800,000 a year.

He pays his staff by the hour (most of his employees are volunteers) and has the Jewish organizations pay most of the programs the organization has. The major expense is only the rent and the utilities. The guy is so cheap that he uses the Catholic school board for gym usage since they offer it for free. He should be named and shamed: Mr Karod. He reduced wages even after the government has consistently increased funding. He pockets everything

All somali communities are useless. Here what they do is they get as many kids as they can and rent a football pitch. They'll then take pictures ilmaha and send it to the council along with their names.

I don't mind if there was a dude who was making a killing off the back of our community but this dude in MN pissed me of, naclatulah ..the so Ali gov even gave him a position in the UN
I am a Somali-American who is proud to make Minnesota my home — along with thousands in our community. I have served my native country as Somalia’s First Secretary to the Somali Mission to the United Nations.

I am a friend of Palestine. I am a friend of Israel. I am a friend of the Muslim community. I am a friend of the Jewish community.

At times I have opposed policies of the Israeli government. Indeed, I voted in favor of the November 2012 United Nations General Assembly resolution recognizing Palestinian statehood, which Israel and the United States opposed.

At the same time, I remind our community that Israel was the first nation at the U.N. to support Somali admission into the organization. Israeli nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) have long extended assistance to Somali refugees in East African refugee camps. More recently, an Israeli judge granted asylum to Somalis living in Tel Aviv. By contrast, Saudi Arabia continues to deport Somalis to the dangerous conditions of the civil war.

Israel is a country with which we have important disagreements, but Israel is also a nation that has been supportive of the Somali people, support we deeply appreciate.

This full history of the Somali-Israeli relationship is not evident in the expressions of hate and anti-Semitism — in Somali, Arabic and English — that I read on social media from members of our local Somali community. Here are some illustrative examples: “Kill the Jews.” “Hitler was a hero.” “Boycott Jewish business.” And so on.

Such comments are wrong, abhorrent and counterproductive in the effort to establish peace in the Middle East — and they reflect badly upon our community. I keep in mind that these are not sentiments held by the vast majority of decent and caring Somalis, but are the vicious outbursts of a small group of people. But unless our community repudiates them, what they say will do great damage.
