Why are the police in the US so violent and rowdy?

Why didn't he provide his ID when they first asked it? All this could've been avoided if he would've complied.

If someone else called the cops on suspicious person sitting in public, than its their job to ask for an ID.

It's his constitutional right not to reveal his identity. He didn't do a crime so the police do not have a right to ask for ID.

FAH come down to Fairfax and tell the cops here its "ur right" to not show 'em an ID or Identify urself when they lawfully request it. You'd end booked for failure to ID.

Rights of a person are there for a reason.
The police need to know the law and not get mad when somebody demonstrates the knowledge of the law. He is within his rights to withhold his identity until significant suspicion is shown.

However like you said some states do need permission to ascertain your identity.

Do you want to live in a police state where they can ask about your business for no reason and invade your privacy? These are public servants serving you, they don't own you.

fah ought to edit "THE MOST POWERFUL CITY IN THE WORLD" in his profile, knowing what happens to his fellow black citizens. That isn't something to be proud of.

Jeffo, the cops didn't just show up on the scene. Someone called them.

Why they called the cops on someone sitting in public, I have no idea.

Maybe he was showing a bizarre behavior while sitting there, and that's why they called 911.

We are only getting from his side of the story, since we have no idea what happened before he turned on the camera. And no one knows what the original 911 caller said....he/she could've said there was someone some one sitting there with a Bazooka, nuclear bomb or whatever. ..we don't know.

A little disclosure here, many moons ago I worked as an Intern in a 911 dispatch center in the Midwest. We use to get all kinds of 911 calls, and then rely that info to officers on the streets on their MDT (yknow, the little computer in their cruisers). As 911 call taker, u are 'spose to get as much info as possible from the caller, but u dealing with John Q public, they aren't known to be Mensa members.

They call, give as little info as possible and then hang up. So when dispatch send the cops there, the cops don't know what the hell is going on. So it's always good to fill the blanks and cooperate with em and do what they ask u off.

Regardless of your state’s law, keep in mind that police can never compel you to identify yourself without reasonable suspicion to believe you’re involved in illegal activity.

When did the USA turn into North Korea? Well, I guess it always has been if you're black. The fact is that a lot of black people experience this sort of thing several times a year. Do you remember the story about the dude who was constantly being harassed by the police and got arrested when he tried to walk into the shop he worked in? It's like the police deliberately harass and provoke people to the point that they react in a way that makes them do something illegal. And then they wonder why a black community riots when one of their members is shot by the police.
