Three funny stories that happened at the Somali store

Post by AbdiJohnson »

So yesterday I go to the Somali store to buy some beef stew. 1 kg ended up being $8. I get it and the butcher tells me "Tuesdays are the worst for business. You must buy something else". I tell him all I need is the suqaar as I have already came yesterday to buy some stuff". He tries to make me purchase something else but I kept telling him "Im good". He tells me "If you come next time on a bad business day and you only buy cheap items, you wont be welcomed. $8 is pocket change". I said "OK".

I go in the line to purchase the beef stew and in front of me is a father, a child and I suspect a fmily friend/or uncle. The family friend/uncle was in a convo with the child and he quizzes him.... "adeer, whats your clan?" in Somali. The fob child who spoke flawless Somali says "Ali something". The uncle smiles and says in Somali "Why did you go so further down?" The child replies in Somali "I am landheer, I am not langaab".

They purchase their stuff and leave and its my turn to purchase my beef stew. The cashier takes my $10 and doesnt give me my $2 change. First i noticed he hasnt added the sales tax into the price and then i notice he doesnt return my change. He gives me my beef stew in a bag. But im still standing there... waiting for my change. He says "What are you waiting for?" . I respond "my two dollars... or my $1.50 or so after tax". He says the same thing the butcher tells me "Business is slow on Mondays and Tuesdays... its only 10 cents anyway"... I put on a confused face... and just walk out...
